The Hotel Altavilla is located in the heart of
Rome, on Via Principe Amadeo, close to
all of the necessary amenities. Hotel Altavilla
guests have easy access to Rome’s public
transport system.
Rome’s central train station, Stazione
Centrale-Roma Termini, is just 200 meters
away and there are regular connections to all
the major Italian towns and cities. From here
there is also the underground Metropolitana (Metro)
which has two lines, A and B. The city’s
extensive overground transport system passes close
to the hotel. The main bus routes terminate in
Piazza dei Cinquecento while trams dissect
Via Principe Amadeo terminating on Via
Amendola.
Esquilino is the name of the
area south of Stazione Termini
and north of the Colosseum. The
Hotel Altavilla lies in between these important
landmarks. Rome encompasses seven hills, of which
the Esquiline Hill is the largest.
Via Cavour is the main traffic artery which connects
Stazione Termini to the famous Fori Imperiali.
Lying on a hill makes walking to the Colosseum
and Fori Imperiali an effortless
stroll. However even if this seems like to much
effort just hop on the metro or one of the many
passing buses.
A major sight in the surrounding area is the
Basilicata di Santa Maria Maggiore,
one of Rome’s four patriarchal basilicas.
